Just Thought You Wanted To Know
On December 7, 2007, New Line Cinema of Time-Warner will release a movie, "The Golden Compass" starring Nicole Kidman. This movie is based on a trilogy of Children's books His Dark Materials written by proud atheist Philip Pullman. In his final book of the trilogy two characters representing Adam and Eve kill God. (Which is Pullman's stated goal.) The movie is a watered down version of his first and least offensive of the three books. It is targeted toward children and it is advertised as a fun-holiday movie. Do your homework! (See... http://snopes.com/politics/religion/compass.asp)
Richard Felix contacted us about helping with gifts for the children of the Christians at Angola. We told them we would help. Due to higher postage costs and to make this ministry just a little easier, we are going to buy gift cards from Wal-Mart that the kids can use for whatever they wish to purchase. It is the gift that keeps giving. We will have a table set up this Sunday for anyone who would like to help make Christmas a little better.
In a Christmas play at a small elementary school a teacher had selected five boys to hold up a letter. The letters were S, T, A, and R. At the end of their program the lights would go out. Spot lights would then shine on each letter making the word "star" glow. It would be a great conclusion for their holiday production. However during the show the attention challenged boys began to move around. When it was their time to shine each boy stood with his letter and they proudly spelled out RATS.
