Putting The Tools Up
I have noticed that the less responsibility I have in VBS the better it is. The last several years our Bible school has become bigger and better. I love the way our stage was decorated and the way our classrooms were transformed. The children had a wonderful time as they learned more about Jesus and created some memories for life. I want to thank all of you who put in so much time and effort to prepare for this event. Thanks to those who helped in all phases of our Bible school. Thanks to the leaders and teachers for their contribution. I also want to thank those who brought food and then helped us clean up when VBS was over. By this Sunday everything will be back to normal. (Except the kids will be wired and the adults will be worn out.)
Pops used to say, "The job wasn't over until you put the tools up." For some reason this has always been difficult for me. When I begin a new project the first thing I must do is - find the tools I need! Now that VBS is over and the building is back to normal I want to remind us that the job isn't over. We have made a commitment to our children. Our mission is to bring them up in God's love. We made some new friends this week and my prayer is that they do not fall between the cracks. We grew deeper in our relationships with some we thought we knew. Some of our teens displayed their talent and gifts. I am proud. They need adults to love, encourage, and mentor them. We watched as some of the "young at heart" rolled up their sleeves to help out one more year.
I hope, now that VBS is over, that we have been reminded at University about our mission to families. We have some great young couples with little ones. Get involved in their lives! Pray for our marriages and families. We have some great teens, singles, empty nesters, and senior group. Pray that we all will be faithful. Commit to see our mission completed. VBS might be over, however, our job is not finished until we put the tools up!
This is a great place to call home!
