Granny’s and Moms

I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. 2 Tim. 1:5

I think I would like to visit with Timothy when I get to heaven. I would like to hear about some of his ministry stories. You do know that it wasn't smooth sailing for young Timmy. I would also like to talk to him about his mother and grandmother. I wonder if ole Lois was a lot like my granny. Granny thought I hung the moon. (Now Pops thought I stole it but that’s a different article.) Granny gave me undivided attention. She let me win in dominoes. She always seemed to make my favorite dish - macaroni and cheese. And every sermon she heard me preach she would always make it a point to say that was a gooood sermon. She was proud of her grandchildren.

I also wonder if Eunice was like my mom. With seemingly an impossible task she would somehow find a way to get it all done. Working behind the scenes she would make sure that all four of us were fed, dressed, and in the right place. Her job was a lot like herding cats! She gave us boundaries, tough love, and always found an appropriate teaching moment. Her eyes, when I was younger, were supernatural. They always saw what I tried to hide and her stare could melt the coldest of hearts. Now, Mom is a Bible scholar. She is especially good in the Old Testament. I am proud of the fact that every Tuesday while I am teaching our ladies she is teaching the ladies at her church. And to be honest, her class is bigger! What a foundation my mom and granny gave to me. What a special blessing Timothy and I share!

They say if you can read - thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English - thank a soldier. If you know what you should read and shouldn't read and you always sit up straight to do it - thank your mom. She is God's gift to children.

Happy Mother's Day
