Special Sundays!

Wow! What a great day we had last Sunday. The singing was excellent and dad hit one out of the park. For those who were able to experience Hodge Sr. - what he did was called preaching! And it was good. Dad will not let you sit passively on a pew. We all heard and were challenged by the message. We believe in God therefore we pray!

I want to remind you about our regular schedule for this Sunday. We will have early service in the gym @ 8:15. Our second morning worship will be @ 10:30. Our lesson will be, "Because He Lives!" Resurrection changes everything. I hope to see you Sunday.

Do you realize how early Easter is this year? Remember the last time it was this early? Sure you do - it was in 1913. The next time it will be this early is in 2160. Easter falls on the Sunday following the Paschal Full Moon. (i.e., the first full moon of Spring in the northern hemisphere.) Since the day is determined by the lunar calendar and not the solar calendar the date changes. The earliest calendar date that it can occur on is March 22, and the latest it can fall on is April 25th. The next time it will fall on April 25th is 2038.

It is true that the date and name of Easter have secular roots. It is also true there is no evidence that the early church singled out such a day. I think it is very interesting that Easter this year is almost a month earlier than Passover. However, we as God's people can assemble every week and remember the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior. That message is called the Gospel. That message changes everything.
